Xenia Landolf

Xenia Landolf is an artist based in Zurich. Her sculptural practice explores forest ecosystems as natural-cultural thresholds shaped by the stories of multiple species.

Through casts, sketches and sound recordings, she gathers traces from surrounding forests that reappear as material translations. Working with protective coverings such as bark, textiles or silicone, she creates metamorphic sculptures and installations. Fragile materials like wax, glass and resin reflect environmental vulnerability while opening spaces for the fantastical.

How does the context of an exhibition influence your artistic process?

My artistic process begins with walking and collecting in the forest. By casting surfaces such as tree bark, I preserve traces of multiple species and transform these coverings into sculptures.
Detached from their original surroundings, these fragments enter into new relationships within the exhibition space.

How did Art Under Dock shape your Artwork?

The soft glow of the exhibited works suggested a path through the darkness, making the atmosphere of the underground space part of the installation.
